Rendering:

Is it better to paint or clean my render?

Unfortunately, many people have hired decorators to paint their homes or properties, and these workers have painted over fungus growth without even washing it properly. As a result, the paint can soon deteriorate and flake off, leaving an unsightly finish and high repair costs. Painting coloured render is usually unnecessary unless a different colour is needed or harm is present; in that case, it is critical to clean it properly first and use the appropriate paint. It is also possible to extract stains from other causes such as metallic rust stains, tannin stains from neighbouring wooden buildings, or dye stains from soil of construction materials from coloured by render to make it appear as fresh.

In recent years, several new homes, especially in Wales, have been finished in a pre-coloured render. This finish dries easily and can be used to create straight, continuous modern lines. Developers choose this finish because it does not require painting because the colour is visible through the material. K-rend, Weber, and Parex which are the most common brands. This type of render holds a small amount of moisture in the wet climate of Wales, providing an ideal atmosphere for biological development.

The first step is to determine the staining type. Because of these growths, the rendered wall becomes filthy. Algae usually leaves a green or red stain, while fungus leaves a black stain. If the render hasn't been cleaned in a while, other growths such as lichen or moss may appear. Lichen is difficult to extract from render, and moss, which grows in cracks and crevices and spreads as it grows and freezes and can erode the surface.

If the render seems to be very dirty, a deep clean with an alkaline cleaner and a low-pressure steam rinse is usually needed first. To have some residual protection, a wide spectrum chemical may be used. Chemical cleaning is often referred to as Soft washing, but depending on the form of staining, there are a variety of techniques and materials that may be used. We provide a sophisticated render cleaning service that employs the most appropriate materials and methods. We've been soft washing for a while and are well-versed in the environmental chemicals used, their impacts on all surfaces, and the required safety precautions. The products we use are effective cleaners.

We've seen a lot of damage to buildings caused by pressure washers that were used with the wrong pressure and nozzles. To avoid causing undue harm to the render, we just use the proper low-pressure cleaning methods. Any plants and vegetation, as well as any fragile materials that may be altered or corroded by the chemicals, must be covered, or moved before used. Following the identification of the stain, a chemical application to remove the Algae, Fungus, and Lichen is applied; this solution must be at the correct dosage, temperature, and time duration. When biological growth is alive, it grips the surface, and attempting to extract it at this stage will inflict harm. When the bacterial growth is dead, softly rinsing it away is much smoother, and the washing process produces much less erosion.
